About the 68RFE Transmission
The RFE transmission series began in 1999 with the 4-speed 45RFE and continues in production now as the 5-speed 545RFE and 65RFE and 6-speed 66RFE and 68RFE. The 5-speed, RWD 545RFE is the most common version currently on the road. Used in millions of Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep models throughout North America, RFE transmissions are most frequently found in Dodge/Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks as well as Jeep Grand Cherokees.
