Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits

Vehicles with listed Chrysler transmissions often show up in the shop with TCC related troubles. These concerns may include trouble codes accompanied by TCC slip, no lockup, overheating and loss of fuel economy. In some cases, the TCC may be unable to release, resulting in improper lockup and engine stall.
Problems such as these are often caused by excess wear in the TCC switch valve bore, which allows vital control pressure to escape the circuit. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized TCC switch valve kit 44912-08K restores crucial clearances for renewed TCC control and operation.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.

Vacuum testing at the port(s) indicated fails to hold the recommended minimum in-Hg, or if wear is visually detected. To test balance port, valve must be moved and held about .060" to .100" against spring pressure. Inserting a retainer clip from a neighboring valve train into the balance port works well for this purpose.
