Know Your Patient: How to Identify Chrysler VLP Models
Robert Moreau
Sonnax oversized pressure regulator valve 92835-29 addresses high/low line pressure, harsh shifts, erratic TCC apply pressures and poor lube control in listed Chrysler VLP units. Wear is commonly found at different areas in the pressure regulator bore. Wear at the inner bore causes high line pressure, harsh shifting and erratic converter apply pressure. Wear at the spring end of the bore allows line pressure to exhaust, resulting in low line pressure, soft shifts and burnt clutches. Wear at this area also will affect converter flow and the lube circuit. The Sonnax valve restores valve-to-bore clearances, allowing the pressure regulator valve to maintain correct pressures in all ranges.
VLP units can be identified by the presence of the line pressure solenoid and transducer mounted on the valve body. Non-VLP units can be serviced with Sonnax 92835-24.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
