Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
As the TCC regulator valve bore deteriorates in listed Chrysler units, TCC regulator pressure becomes too high or too low depending on which part of the bore is worn. This pressure feeds to the release side of the torque converter when required. If pressure is excessive, converter ballooning can occur with subsequent converter failure. If pressure is too low, proper release will not occur. When the torque converter is applied, the TCC regulator valve feeds the cooler circuit. If the valve cannot regulate properly, cooler pressure will be too high.
Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized TCC regulator valve kit 92835-37K restores hydraulic integrity for revived TCC and cooler operation. The hardcoat anodized aluminum valve combats premature wear.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
