Overly firm up/downshift feel or harsh engagement can be a sign of deformed accumulator piston bumpers in listed units. The OE elastomeric (rubber) bumpers tend to take a set, resulting in loss of hydraulic damping. Sonnax direct-replacement accumulator piston kit 95740-15K restores hydraulic damping with improved service life.

The OE accumulator piston bumpers are worn, brittle or missing. Examine the bumpers closely for flat spots or cracks. Be sure that used bumpers quickly return to their original shape after deformation.
