Prevent RFE, RH/RE Converter Failure: Maintain Proper TCC Apply Pressure
Jim Dial
When the torque converter clutch (TCC) is fully engaged in listed Chrysler units, line pressure from the pressure regulator valve is directed straight to the TCC apply circuit, through the TCC switch valve, applying full line pressure to the TC clutch.
In worn or performance-enhanced transmissions, pressure can reach 150 psi or higher, potentially deforming or ballooning the torque converter. This deformation can negatively impact drivability, efficiency and overall performance.
Sonnax TCC apply limit valve kit 22771A-44K limits the amount of pressure applied to the torque converter to 130 psi without affecting the line pressure or creating drivability issues.
