Wear in the cooler/lube flow control bore and wear on the valve is a common issue occurring in Toyota/Lexus UA80E, UA80F, UB80E and UB80F FWD and AWD transmissions. This wear minimizes SLT (throttle pressure) control and control of the converter/lube flow circuits resulting in fluid overheating and lubrication failures.
Installing Sonnax modified lube flow control valve kit 168740-16K eliminates the exhaust of crucial pressure escaping the cooler/lube circuit by creating a newly conditioned bore area for the upgraded valve to operate in. The undercut on the major diameter inboard spool of the drop-in Sonnax valve was added to allow for a percentage of the cooler flow to exhaust back to the sump, regardless of the valves positioning in the sleeve. This design helps keep the system from overheating while ensuring that ample fluid flow is traveling to the rear case/differential. Annular grooves have been added on the critical diameters of the valve to help keep the valve centered in the sleeve. These Sonnax features ensure your units will have proper cooler/lube pressure control throughout all drive ranges.
Vacuum testing at the port(s) indicated fails to hold the recommended minimum in-Hg, or if wear is visually detected.
