Symptoms:
- Loss of higher gears
- Damaged A dog clutch
- Damaged F dog clutch
- Input shaft damage
- P3 & P4 sun gear damage
- Delayed engagement
- Cycling RPM during shift
Cause:
The dog clutch plunger valves provide source pressure for both the A and F dog clutch apply and release. Responding to TCM and the linear solenoid, the clutch control valve establishes control timing of apply and release relative to engine RPM. Bore wear will cause an overlap or premature exhaust of clutch pressure.Correction:

The ZF9HP48 PBW (Park By Wire) and PBC (Park By Cable) have different plunger valve diameters than Chrysler applications and should not be interchanged.
