Overdrive clutches in listed Hyundai/Kia transmissions are applied in 4th, 5th and 6th Gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the overdrive pressure control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the OD clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, and burnt overdrive clutches.
Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized overdrive pressure control valve kit 102741-18K returns normal shift operation by restoring hydraulic integrity to the OD circuit.
