Honda/Acura 4-speed, 3-shaft units are infamous for TCC lockup issues in both full lockup and slip mode. These units also are known to frequently overheat either the torque converter alone or the entire transmission. These issues are caused by wear at valve spools and bore lands that allow ATF to leak away from critical hydraulic circuits. Reconditioning the bore and installing the Sonnax oversized lockup control valve kit 98892-17K re-establishes hydraulic integrity to control circuits and restores OE function.
