Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
Aisin AW 55-50SN and AW-51SN transmissions can have TCC apply and release complaints, inadequate lubrication and TCC codes as a result of wear at the inside diameter of the lockup relay control sleeve due to continuous valve oscillation. This results in valuable converter feed pressure to flow directly to exhaust and prevents the relay control valve from properly positioning the inboard valve to control the flow of apply and release oil to the converter. Installing the Sonnax drop-in lockup relay control valve kit 59947-01K restores proper hydraulic control with a highly wear-resistant billet sleeve and hard-coat anodized aluminum valve.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
