Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
Aisin AW TF-80/81SC transmissions may exhibit various concerns related to line pressure instability caused by wear in the main pressure regulator bore. This results in excess line pressure, harsh shifting and reduced cooler flow that leads to overheating. Additional problems such as poor line rise, erratic shift quality and burnt clutches can surface when the boost sleeve wears. Installation of Sonnax oversized main pressure regulator and boost valve kit 39741-01K re-establishes critical valve-to-bore clearance and restores normal line pressure operation.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
