Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
The continuous oscillation of the secondary pressure regulator valve in Toyota/Lexus A750, A760, A960 and AB60 series transmissions wears the valve spools and valve body bore at the contacting surfaces. This wear results in TCC pressure irregularities and valve instability. If pressure is high, harsh lockup clutch engagement can result. If the pressure is too low, the TC clutch cannot achieve complete lockup. Continuous clutch slippage will lead to burnt clutch material and converter. Under these conditions, loss of mileage and poor drivability are to be expected.
Sonnax oversized secondary pressure regulator kit 147741-10K includes a high-quality steel valve with annular grooves to reduce side-load wear and extend valve and valve body life. Sonnax tool kit F-147741-TL4 was designed as a multi-purpose tool. Used in conjunction with our VB-FIX reaming fixture, both the main pressure regulator bore and the secondary pressure regulator bore can be reamed and prepared for their respective kits: 147741-10K and oversized pressure regulator and boost valve kit 147741-04K.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
