During converter clutch apply in Jatco/Nissan RE5R05A transmissions, the TCC control plunger valve interacts with apply pressure to help cushion the stroking of the TCC control valve. Continuous valve oscillation causes sleeve deterioration, allowing critical apply pressure to escape the circuit. This can result in lockup shudder, overheating, premature or bumpy apply and TCC slippage as well as a burnt converter. Installing Sonnax TCC control plunger valve kit 63741-25K restores critical clearances and stops pressure loss for renewed TCC operation.
