Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
Listed Ford transmissions often exhibit drivability concerns that can be caused by bore wear at the solenoid regulator valve. Wear here allows pressure escape that may result in problems such as loss of 2nd Gear, erratic shifting, neutral after 4th or 2-3 neutral. If the bore deteriorates further, the valve will stick, resulting in wrong gear starts or loss of Forward, especially under hard acceleration. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid regulator valve kit 76948-47K restores smooth drivability and shift control in all ranges.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
