Anatomy of a Transmission: Oil Flow in the Pump-PR-Converter-Cooler Lube Circuits
Gregg Nader
Listed Toyota transmissions have lockup relay valves that route converter feed fluid pressure to the release side of the converter clutch and apply fluid into the cooler fluid circuit. Converter feed pressure at the lockup relay control plunger valve helps in proper positioning of the inboard lockup relay valve. Wear at these valves can result in converter apply and release concerns, inadequate lubrication, overheated fluid, bushing and solenoid failure, as well as converter codes. Sonnax oversized lockup relay valve kit 97741-20K restores the proper hydraulic clearance to re-establish OE function and performance.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
